On Sunday, July 19th  Pacem in Terris will eature 17th-century music from Italy and England, performed by mezzo-soprano Justina Golden, Nathaniel Cox, playing both cornetto and theorbo, Alice Robbins, viola da gamba, and Gregory Hayes, organ. The program will feature the performers in various combinations, playing variation sets by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Diego Ortiz and others, as well as songs by Giulio Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi, and Henry Purcell, and organ works by Michelangelo Rossi and Orlando Gibbons.

wallaceRoneyThe Wallace Roney Group will perform Sunday Aug 30 at The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center at 7 PM for the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival.

Wallace Roney earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and his elders since age 16. He has been an integral part of the band with Tony Williams, Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Walter Davis Jr., Herbie Hancock, Jay McShann, David Murray, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, Curtis Fuller, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Dizzy Gillespie to name a few. He was one of the few musicians in his generation who learned and perfected his craft directly from alliances with Jazz Masters. But his most important and meaningful relationship was with Miles Davis.

Jazz fest fundraiser

In what could be considered The Hudson Valley's community-raising fist-pump, the 2015 edition of the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, scheduled for Aug. 26-27, will kick off its sixth festival season with two exciting fundraising performances featuring tantalizing and mesmerizing jazz for music lovers of all stripes.
