Sunday, August 21st at 5:00 pm will mark the return of the wonderful Matthew Rohde, the classical guitarist who has graced our season for the last several years. The program this year will include two Domenico Scarlatti Sonatas as well as newer music from Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba by Antonio Lauro, Sergio Assad, Marco Pereira, Leo Brouwer and Eduardo Morales-Caso!
Matthew Rohde has performed extensively throughout the US, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He has been heard as a soloist with the Yale Symphony Orchestra, the Hindemith Ensemble, and the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, as well as with members of the Decoda Ensemble. In 2007 he was invited to perform at an address delivered by President Hu Jin Tao of China during his historic visit to the United States, and in 2009 he was the only American to advance to the semi-final round of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, arguably the most prestigious event of its kind in the world. As the recipient of a 2013 US State Department grant, Matthew performed and taught throughout Ecuador.
