Baroque Music of Germany and Italy at Pacem in Terris

Jennifer Morsches

On Sunday, July 17th at 5 pm, a musical tour of baroque Germany and Italy--and of cellos at Pacem in Terris. Jennifer Morsches (playing both a four-string and five-string piccolo cello!!) and harpsichordist Gregory Hayes. Our guides will be Johann Sebastian Bach (movements from the D major cello suite and the English Suite in G minor for harpsichord), his son Carl Philipp Emanuel (a sonata in C major), and Italian composers Bernardo Storace, Antonio Vivaldi, and Alessandro Scarlatti.

Jennifer divides her time between our shores--she is the newly appointed principal cellist of Boston Baroque--and Europe, where she plays with the ensemble Florilegium, the Orchestre des Champs-Orchestre des Champs-Élysées and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. "Jennifer Morsches plays with a fine mixture of elegance and gutsiness…” (Gramophone Magazine).

Greg stays on this side of the Atlantic, playing throughout New England and teaching at Dartmouth. He is a longtime performer on both harpsichord and organ at Pacem (where he will also join the brilliant violinist Krista Bennion Feeney for another concert on August 14).
