The Tuxedo Park Library Authors’ Circle presents Cristina Alger, author of This Was Not the Plan

Cristina Alger CoverTuxedo Park, NY: Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 3:00pm the Tuxedo Park Library Authors’ Circle will proudly present Cristina Alger, author of This Was Not The Plan.  From the acclaimed author of The Darlings who “has what it takes, in the best sense of the phrase” (USA Today) comes a hilarious, big-hearted novel about love and loss, parenthood and friendship, and what the elusive work-life balance truly means.
Charlie Goldwyn never thought he would become a SAHD—a Stay-At-Home Dad. Widowed at thirty-three, his sights remained firmly set on making partner at the prestigious corporate law firm in New York City where he put in twelve-hour days for the past eight years, working hard to provide financially for his five-year-old son, Caleb.
But when a slight lapse of judgment at an office party is captured on camera and goes viral online, Charlie is left humiliated, unemployed, and stuck at home with Caleb for the summer. His son’s obsession with natural disasters, penchant for wearing girls’ clothing, and loner status at preschool make Charlie quickly realize that full-time parenting might be tougher than practicing law.
In the face of it all, Charlie is still desperate to return to the partner track at his old firm. But as he tries to maintain the delicate balance between spending time with his son and wooing his former boss, Charlie is forced to reconnect with his own estranged father and decide for himself what matters most. Heartbreaking and humorous in equal measure, This Was Not The Plan is a tender exploration of fatherhood and family.
